Extract of Media Statement:

SENIOR MINISTER OF DEFENCE MALAYSIA

5 MAY 2021

ON MOVEMENT CONTROL ORDER (MCO) IN IDENTIFIED DISTRICTS

Extracted from the Media Statement from Senior Minister of Defence Malaysia dated 5 May 2021 on the Movement Control Order (MCO), the Government announced additional restrictions on the admission of citizens from Sri Lankan, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Nepal, apart from India.

Previously, the Government has already restricted the entry of Indian nationals into the country. The Government has agreed to expand the restrictions on Bangladeshi, Pakistani, Nepalese and Sri Lankan travellers entering Malaysia, including all categories of long-term social visit pass holders, international business travellers and social visitors.

However, exemptions are granted to Diplomatic and Official Passport holders as provided for in The Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961. This category of travellers can be considered to enter Malaysia using the existing SOPs
